ॐ हं हनुमते रुद्रात्मकाय हुं फट् स्वाहा।

Om! I invoke Hanumān, whose essence is Rudra. With the force of Haṁ, Huṁ, and Phaṭ, I offer this mantra to destroy obstacles and negativity.

This mantra calls upon Hanumān in his most fierce, protective, and unstoppable form.

It is charged with prāṇa (life force) and rudra-energy to:

I bow to Hanumān, the abode of incomparable strength,
whose body shines like a golden mountain,
who burns the forest of demons like a raging fire,
who is foremost among the wise, the repository of all virtues,
the lord of the vānaras, and the beloved devotee of Raghupati (Lord Rāma),
the one born from the wind god.

  • atulita-bala-dhāmaṁ (अतुलितबलधामं) = the abode of incomparable strength
  • hema-śaila-abha-deham (हेमशैलाभदेहम्) = whose body shines like a golden mountain
  • danuja-vana-kṛśāṇam (दनुजवनकृषाणं) = the fire that burns the forest of demons
  • jñāninām-agra-gaṇyam (ज्ञानिनामग्रगण्यम्) = foremost among the wise and knowledgeable

With folded hands, I bow to Añjaneya (Hanumān),
who gracefully crossed the ocean’s waters,
took upon himself the sorrowful fire of Sītā (Janaka’s daughter),
and with that very fire, burned down the city of Laṅkā.

I surrender to Hanumān, who is swift as the mind and wind,
master of the senses, supreme among the wise,
the son of Vāyu, and commander of the monkey army,
the divine messenger of Lord Rāma.
I meditate upon Anjaneya, whose face glows red with brilliance,
whose form is as splendid as a golden mountain,
who dwells beneath the pārijāta tree,
and who is the blissful son of the wind-god.

  • manojavam (मनोजवम्) = swift as the mind
  • māruta-tulya-vegam (मारुततुल्यवेगम्) = having speed equal to the wind (māruta = wind, vegam = speed)
  • jitendriyam (जितेन्द्रियम्) = conqueror of the senses
  • buddhimatām (बुद्धिमताम्) = among the intelligent
  • variṣṭham (वरिष्ठम्) = the best, the foremost
  • vātātmajam (वातात्मजम्) = son of Vāyu (wind god)
