Tripura Sundari mantras

Mantras of Tripurasundarī – The Supreme Goddess of Beauty, Bliss, and Wisdom

Tripurasundarī, also known as Lalitā, is the central deity of the Śrī Vidyā tradition and the embodiment of divine beauty, consciousness, and bliss. Her mantras are among the most powerful and refined in Hindu Tantra, revealing layers of metaphysical insight and inner awakening. From the luminous Kādividyā mantra ("ka e ī la hrīṁ...") to the transcendental Ṣoḍaśākṣarī, Tripurasundarī's vibrations govern speech, desire, knowledge, and ultimate liberation. These mantras activate the subtle energies of the Śrī Cakra, harmonize the guṇas, and awaken Śakti within the sādhaka.

This page offers a rich collection of Tripurasundarī mantras, including the Bālā mantra, Gāyatrī mantra, and accessible forms for both initiated and uninitiated devotees. Each mantra is presented with transliteration, meaning, and context—ideal for both devotional recitation and Tantric contemplation. Whether you are a seeker of inner light, beauty, or mystical knowledge, Tripurasundarī’s mantras open the subtle path to grace and realization.

Tripura Sundari Mantras

Kāmakalā Mantra

क ए ई ल ह्रीं ।
ह स क ह ल ह्रीं ।
स क ल ह्रीं ॥

This mantra is symbolic, not literal. This mantra does not translate word-for-word like ordinary speech. Each syllable is a bīja (seed sound) representing cosmic principles, divine energies, and subtle tattvas (truth-elements). It is a code of divine energies, and its power is realized through initiation (dīkṣā), meditation, and deep sādhana.

  • Reciting this mantra is said to align the individual self with cosmic Shakti.
  • It is central in the Śrī Vidyā tradition and is woven into the Śrī Chakra and Lalitā Sahasranāma.
  • It symbolizes the union of Śiva and Śakti in the heart of the sādhaka.

ka e ī la hrīṁ

  • Represents Kāma, desire or will.
  • Contains the power of creation.

ha sa ka ha la hrīṁ

  • Represents Mahālakṣmī, the sustaining force.
  • Associated with life force (prāṇa) and vital energy.
  • Encodes the mysterious interplay of movement and stillness (ha-sa is also in the Haṁsa mantra — the breath).

sa ka la hrīṁ

  • Represents Mahākālī, the transformative and dissolving force.
  • Points to totality (sa-ka-la = all, complete).
  • Signals the return to the primordial unity.

Hrīṁ (ह्रीं) is the mahābīja of Śakti (great seed syllable) of the Goddess, representing the full spectrum of existence, awareness, and bliss (sat-cit-ānanda). It is:

  • The seed of the goddess.
  • The force of illumination, compassion, and self-revelation.
  • The womb of the mantra, linking all parts.

Tripurasundarī Gāyatrī Mantra

ॐ त्रिपुरायै च विद्महे
क्लींकारिण्यै च धीमहि
तन्नो बाला प्रचोदयात्॥

Lalitā Mahāvidyā Bīja-Mantra

ॐ ऐं ह्रीं क्लीं सौः श्री ललिताम्बिकायै नमः।

Om — I bow to Śrī Lalitāmbikā,
who is evoked through the seed syllables Aiṁ (wisdom), Hrīṁ (power of transformation), Klīṁ (divine attraction/love), and Sauḥ (liberation and transcendence).

ऐं (Aiṁ)

  • The bīja (seed mantra) of Sarasvatī, goddess of wisdom and speech.
  • It brings clarity, knowledge, and mantra śakti (spiritual power of sound).

ह्रीं (Hrīṁ)

  • The bīja of Mahāvidyā Bhuvaneśvarī or Lalitā herself.
  • Symbolizes spiritual illumination, inner transformation, and cosmic energy.
  • Called the "Mokṣa bīja" — it opens the inner path to liberation.

क्लीं (Klīṁ)

  • The Kāma bīja, seed of divine love, desire, and attraction.
  • Related to Kāmeśvarī, the form of Lalitā who governs the subtle power of desire.

सौः (Sauḥ)

  • The Parābīja, representing the highest Śakti, the dissolver of all boundaries.
  • Brings transcendence, bliss, and the merging into the supreme.

श्री ललिताम्बिकायै नमः (śrī lalitāmbikāyai namaḥ)

  • “Salutations to Śrī Lalitāmbikā” – the Mother Goddess in her most graceful and supreme form.
  • She is the queen of the Śrī Cakra, the ruler of the three cities (Tripurasundarī), and the essence of beauty, bliss, and wisdom.

This mantra is a powerful and compact invocation of Lalitā Tripurasundarī, blending four core bīja mantras into one elegant formula. It’s often considered a “universal Śrī Vidyā mantra” for non-initiates and a gateway to deeper sādhana.
