Nārāyaṇī Stuti Mantra

सर्वमङ्गल-माङ्गल्ये शिवे सर्वार्थ-साधिके
शरण्ये त्र्यंबके गौरि नारायणि नमोऽस्तु ते

O Nārāyaṇī, the most auspicious among all that is auspicious, O embodiment of auspiciousness, fulfiller of all desires, protector of those who seek refuge, O three-eyed Gaurī, I bow to you.

This mantra is a universal salutation to the Goddess, invoking her as:

  • The ultimate source of auspiciousness (maṅgala),
  • The fulfiller of all endeavors (sarvārtha-sādhike),
  • The compassionate savior (śaraṇye),
  • And as the cosmic feminine force (Nārāyaṇī), who supports the whole universe.

It comes from the Devī Māhātmya (also known as Durgā Saptashatī or Candi Pāṭha), specifically found in the 11th chapter, which is part of the Mārkaṇḍeya Purāṇa. This verse is part of the Nārāyaṇī Stuti, a powerful hymn sung by the gods in praise of the Divine Mother after she defeats the demons Śumbha and Niśumbha. This line is one of the most famous verses from that hymn.

Śiva Bhakta Samkalpa Śloka

माता च पार्वती देवी
पिता देवो महेश्वरः।
बान्धवाः शिवभक्ताश्च
स्वदेशो भुवनत्रयम्॥

Goddess Pārvatī is my mother,
Lord Maheśvara (Śiva) is my father.
The devotees of Śiva are my companions,
And the three worlds are my homeland.

Meaning: Goddess Parvati is the mother, and the divine father is Shiva. The devotees are the children. The world is the creation of these divine beings, and we live on the land of such celestial beings.
