Goddess Durga is one of the most majestic and awe-inspiring deities in Hindu tradition, embodying divine strength, motherly compassion, and triumphant courage. Her appearance is a vivid blend of grace and power:

Complexion: She is often portrayed with a radiant golden or red-hued complexion, symbolizing energy (śakti) and vitality.

Face and Expression: Her face exudes calm majesty and unwavering focus. Her eyes are large, bright, and full of compassion, yet they burn with righteous intensity when confronting evil.

Multiple Arms: Durga typically has eight or ten arms (sometimes more), each hand wielding a weapon given by various gods — such as Viṣṇu’s discus, Śiva’s trident, Indra’s thunderbolt, Agni’s flaming spear, and Varuṇa’s conch — representing her ability to combat all forms of negativity.

Weapons and Symbols: Besides weapons, some hands show mudrās (divine gestures), like the abhaya mudrā (fearlessness) and varada mudrā (boon-giving), emphasizing both her protective and benevolent nature.

Vehicle: She rides the fierce lion or tiger, a symbol of her mastery over power, will, and determination.

Clothing and Ornaments: She wears dazzling red or yellow garments, adorned with celestial jewelry and a resplendent crown, glowing with divine light.

Hair and Aura: Her long, flowing hair, sometimes seen flying wildly in battle, adds to her fierce beauty. She radiates a halo or aura of divine energy, indicating her supernatural origin.

In her Mahishāsuramardinī (slayer of the buffalo demon) form, she is depicted in dynamic motion, striking down Mahishāsura with effortless might, perfectly balancing wrath and serenity.

Durga’s form is both fearsome to the wicked and loving to the devoted, encapsulating the supreme paradox of the Divine Mother — the one who nourishes, protects, and transforms the cosmos.
