Lord Nārāyaṇa Gāyatrī

ॐ नारायणाय विद्महे
वासुदेवाय धीमहि
तन्नो विष्णुः प्रचोदयात्॥
Om Nārāyaṇāya Vidmahe
Vāsudevāya Dhīmahi
Tanno Viṣṇuḥ Pracodayāt
Om. We contemplate upon Nārāyaṇa.
We meditate upon Vāsudeva.
May that all-pervading Viṣṇu inspire and guide our intellect.

This mantra calls upon three divine forms of Lord Viṣṇu:

  • Nārāyaṇa – the all-encompassing, supreme being and cosmic sustainer
  • Vāsudeva – the inner indwelling presence (often associated with Śrī Kṛṣṇa)
  • Viṣṇu – the one who pervades everything and maintains universal order

The Twelve-Syllable Mantra

ॐ नमो भगवते वासुदेवाय
Om Namo Bhagavate Vāsudevāya
Om. I bow to the Divine Lord, Vāsudeva (Kṛṣṇa, the indweller of all beings).

This is a mukti (liberation) mantra, meant to invoke spiritual surrender and inner transformation.

Vāsudeva is not just the historical Kṛṣṇa but also symbolizes the Supreme Consciousness residing in all.
