Queen Kuntī, whose prayer in the First Canto asks that calamities come again and again, because through them Kṛṣṇa is seen. Her following verse names the real danger — edhamāna-madaḥ, the swelling intoxication of birth, wealth, learning and beauty that makes a person unable to approach the akîñcana.
