Mādrī, second wife of Pāṇḍu and mother of Nakula and Sahadeva. At Pāṇḍu’s death she asked Kuntī to live and raise all five sons — to treat hers sva-putravat, as her own — and followed him herself. The Bhāgavata compresses that exchange into two words: arbhakārthe, for the children.
