Śikhaṇḍin, child of Drupada, born female and later male, and remembered as the instrument of Bhīṣma’s fall: because Bhīṣma regarded Śikhaṇḍin in accordance with that former identity and would not fight, the Pāṇḍavas placed Śikhaṇḍin before Arjuna on the tenth day. Killed by Aśvatthāmā during the night attack on the sleeping camp.
