Kṛṣṇa’s cousin, minister and confidant at Dvārakā, a student of Bṛhaspati and the recipient of the instruction that closes the eleventh canto of the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam. Sent to Vṛndāvana to console the gopīs with philosophy, he abandoned the errand’s premise and prayed instead to be born there as a creeper.
