The ṛṣi whose pond, granted by Varuṇa, made the community prosper — and who was then falsely accused of go-hatyā when Gaṇeśa, in the form of a cow, fell at the touch of his darbha grass. Expelled without protest, he asked Śiva for purification even after being told he was sinless, and then asked that the river granted to him also flow to the homes of the six ṛṣis who had accused him.
