Śākhā — a branch of the Veda: a school’s own recension of a Vedic text, with its distinctive arrangement, accent and ritual application. Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 1.4.23 describes how the sages’ disciples and their disciples multiplied the Veda into many śākhās. Pages here treat that branching and what it preserves.
