Svabhāva is one’s own nature — the settled psychophysical constitution from which action actually proceeds, formed by the guṇas and by past karma. The Gītā grounds prescribed duty in it (svabhāva-niyataṁ karma) and treats work that contradicts it as unstable however admirable it looks. Pages here that treat svabhāva.
