“Madness.” At Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 11.2.40 the devotee dances unmāda-vat, “like one who is mad” — but the verse gives an order: chanting, then anūrāga, then the melted heart, and only then the outward symptom. The transformation is the substance; the symptom is secondary and is not to be imitated.
