Kṛṣṇa’s brāhmaṇa companion and the comic voice of the Vraja līlā, called Mansukha in Braj usage — mana, mind, and sukha, happiness, because he gives happiness to Kṛṣṇa’s mind. He accompanies Kṛṣṇa on the boyhood raids for milk and butter, supplies the running commentary, and maintains throughout that Kṛṣṇa’s success against demons is owed entirely to his brāhmaṇical blessings.
