The king of Vraja whom the tradition knows as Rādhā’s father, and after whom she is called Vṛṣabhānu-sutā, Vṛṣabhānu-nandinī, Vṛṣabhānujā and Vārṣabhānavī. The Garga-saṁhitā describes Rādhā descending through his wife; the Rāvala tradition of Vraja tells instead of his finding her within a golden lotus on the Yamunā; and in Rūpa Gosvāmī’s Lalita-mādhava, Yogamāyā draws her from his wife’s womb and Paurṇamāsī later entrusts the child to Mukhara as his daughter. The accounts differ; the fatherhood does not.
