Gokula-Mahāvana, the cowherd settlement across the Yamunā to which Kṛṣṇa was carried on the night of his birth, and where he spent roughly the first three years and four months of the Vraja līlā. It is the setting of the earliest bālya episodes, the Dāmodara-līlā among them, and was abandoned when repeated demonic attacks made it unsafe.
