Mahābhāva, the supreme essence of prema in Gauḍīya rasa theology — love so intense that it transforms the whole being of the one who feels it. Rūpa Gosvāmī and the Caitanya-caritāmṛta identify Śrī Rādhā not as one who possesses mahābhāva but as mahābhāva-svarūpa, its very embodiment, which is why Her body, garments and ornaments can be described as mahābhāva made visible.
